Mary Celeste is a new, full-length show for young performers which retells, and solves, the famous riddle of the abandoned Victorian sailing ship. The show has no spoken narration: everything is sung. Somewhat revue-like in structure, it has twenty-five numbers each in a different musical style, with occasional serious moments among much burlesque, satire and general uproar.
It sticks closely to historical fact until the end, when it becomes a parable about the present state of the world: in the finale the Company announces a change of course for our global ship, before we turn it into a vast Mary Celeste, sailing an eerie journey through the seas of space, with no survivors.
