Roland Clare + Linda Bray ... family tree data
There are about 1140 names represented on this website ... our ancestors, their descendants, their ancestors ... with very variable amounts of genealogical detail. We've been researching our forebears on-and-off since 1979 and this is an attempt to publish the barest of bones, complete to September 2001 but still very much provisional, in the hope of making e-contact with fellow-searchers. Our immediate ancestors are primarily English, with plenty of Scots, Manx, Cornish and a little German blood. The cousins are far-flung … Canada, South Africa, Australia and the USA in particular.
You won't find sources yet, nor have we (yet) tried to present the names in their geographical and chronological 'strata'. But we hope we've succeeded in hand-weeding all reference to people who are still living (save self and spouse) ... we trust this won't stop visitors from discerning where in the chart they belong.
This family tree has some 'islands' in it, apparently-unrelated people or clumps of people: these are probably names we're storing in case they prove to be related, or else ancient friends so closely linked to the family that they merit recording alongside kinsfolk. These could be a source of frustration, but we left them in in case any one-name studiers happen by.
Another source of frustration is the Whole Strings Of Initial Capitals caused by some Gedcom disorder that we haven't sorted out yet, and the presence of textual 'fossils' introducing footnotes and sources that are not actually represented on this site. Sorry about these!
You could get started at the surname-index: click on a name that interests you, and you'll go to a page presenting a 'filing-card' with husband on the left, wife on the right, respective parents above, and offspring below. Click names to navigate up and down the generations: if a name doesn't work as a link, it's either a living person or someone about whom we don't know anything else.
We hope you have a fruitful rummage among these pages: please contact us [roland.clare@blueyonder.co.uk] with additions or amendments.
